Peermont Trusts Award Record Number of Scholarships to Ekurhuleni Youth
Tuesday, 03 February 2026
The Trustees of the Peermont Education Trust (PET) and the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT) — two long-standing CSI programmes supported by Emperors Palace — have awarded a record number of all-expenses-paid scholarships to deserving young people from Ekurhuleni in 2026.
Following an overwhelming response of more than 1 000 applications, a rigorous selection and interview process resulted in 18 outstanding students being awarded scholarships — the highest number of new beneficiaries selected in a single year in the more than 25-year history of the PET and PCBT bursary programmes.
Each scholarship is valued at over R170 000 per student and will support recipients in pursuing studies in their chosen fields. In addition to welcoming the Class of 2026, the Trusts will also continue funding 27 students already enrolled in PET and PCBT scholarship programmes from previous years.
The final interview process took place on Saturday, 26 January 2026, at Emperors Palace – The Palace of Dreams. The selection panel comprised Trustees Tshidi Madima, Thembekile Makhoba, Oren Fuchs and Vusi Zwane, together with PET alumni Sphesihle Nxumalo and Naomi Monareng, who played a key role in selecting the successful candidates.
The newly selected recipients will soon receive their official scholarship letters and welcome packs at a formal induction function to be hosted at Emperors Palace.
Through the PET and PCBT programmes, Peermont continues to demonstrate its commitment to education, youth development and community upliftment, investing in future leaders and creating opportunities that change lives.
