Emperors Palace once again played host to world-class Golden Gloves boxing on Saturday 11 June when Winners Takes All came to the Palace of Dreams. The highlight was the much-anticipated rematch between Roarke Knapp and Brandon Thysse for the ABU junior middleweight belt.

The evening was action-packed and saw some sports personalities like Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira and former Cruiserweight world champion Kevin Lerena. The event set the stage for plenty of hard-hitting action still to come this year. The main results were:

Roarke Knapp beat Brandon Thysse on a split decision over 12 rounds to win the ABU Africa Junior Middleweight Title

Chris Thompson beat Joshua Pretorius to be crowned the new ABU & SA Heavyweight champion

In the female fight Sazisiwe Simon defeated Yolandi Gelderblom in a four-round lightweight contest.
