South Africa’s First Michelin Star Chef

On 27 May South Africa’s first Michelin Star chef Jan Hendrick van der Westhuizen held a MasterClass at Emperors Palace. The invite-only event saw the super-star chef prepare a four-course meal while sharing tips of the trade as well as anecdotes from his career. More than a hundred guests were in attendance and then got to enjoy the meal designed by Jan, as well as interact and pose for photos.

Such an event is a bucket-list item for many and this once in a lifetime experience consisted of a menu of:

Ostrich Carpaccio with Balsamic Toffee Tomatoes
Amagwinya Grass Sticks with Roasted Banana and Biltong Butter
Onions stuffed with Slow Roast Leg of Lamb | Baked Cauliflowers with Brown Rice Salad
Chocolate Soufflés with Passion Fruit

All meals were complimented with wines from the Jan Brand.
