The annual Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile took place at Turffontein Racecourse on  31 October 2020. With the event happening behind closed doors, there was no shortage of excitement with Hudoo Magic winning the event, with Charles finishing second and YouCantHurryLove rounding out the top three.

Each horse represented one of 16 local charities, with a total of R1 Million up for grabs.  The Emperors Palace Lesedi Programme for Electrical learnerships took home the top cheque of R150 000, Lesedi Programme for Air Conditioning learnerships getting R100 000 and Animal Allies Rescue claiming the third place cheque of R75 000. Each charity was also represented by a local celebrity with songstress Zahara coming out on top.

‘The Charity Mile is a highlight of our year and we’re very happy with the outcome,’ says Emperors Palace Complex General Manager Clive Tavener. ‘Congratulations to Hudoo Magic on winning the race and to Lesedi Programme for Electrical learnerships for taking home the big prize to a very worthwhile charity and all the good work they do in the community.’
